Who am I, anyway?

I'm the author of the middle-grade Aldo Zelnick Comic Novel Series, which has been honored with a Top 10 Educational Products of 2011 Award, a Colorado Book Award, and a Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Regional Book Award, among other accolades. I've worked as a writer and editor for more than twenty years, and I've also ghostwritten dozens of books. In addition to the Aldo books, I'm working on a number of picture book, early reader, and grown-up book projects.
Together with illustrator Kendra Spanjer and designer Launie Parry, I founded Bailiwick Press in 2009. Bailiwick's mission is to make books that kids love to read. Its titles are distributed by Independent Publishers Group. Kendra and Launie and I work together in an adorable old-house-turned-studio.
I grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota and attended college in Wyoming and Colorado. I lived in Philadelphia for a while, where I worked for a publishing company. I've called Fort Collins, Colorado, home for more than 20 years.
I live with my husband, three teenage boys, and two boy cats in a house strewn with sports gear, candy wrappers, video games, books, cat toys, and dirty socks.
When I'm not writing, reading, and presenting, I like to hang out with my family. And watch movies. And cook. And eat (which, for good or for bad, I can do simultaneously with almost all my other activities).
